A little thought and creativity goes a long way & usually makes the most impact.

lack of space or budget and many times both.

A great place to start looking for Inspiration are design magazines of course
or a few hours spent wandering the aisles of IKEA
where vignettes created by their Design Team make
everyday living a breeze.

How about opening up a front closet
to include a bench, shoe storage, and hooks to hang coats
in a small entry ?

this arrangement also creates a clever ledge great for keys, mail, etc.
